Joy in the Ordinary

Look around, really look around and you will find joy... joy in the everyday... joy in the ordinary things.

Eighteen years ago this guy and I had our first date. So happy he had the courage to ask me to dinner and a movie.

Muffins and tea for breakfast. Yum.
The remaining Halloween candy really needs to go. Not mentioning any names, but the lady of house has eaten her share.
I was in the other room while they worked on putting a new shelf together for Megan's room.
I enjoyed listening to them work on this. Megan tends to be a free spirit and likes to do things off the cuff.  Chuck would ask what was next and she would spout what she thought was next. I had to laugh as he said read the directions; what do they say is next? It's good for her to learn to follow instructions and not do things her way. The struggle is real with reigning in her free spirit without crushing it!

The above picture of the tree was taken last Tuesday and the same tree below on Monday. I was surprised to how many leaves had been lost in a week.
Doesn't everyone roast mini marshmallows over a candle?!
We spent a day out and about.
A trip to the bookstore resulted in a puppet show. Fun.  And look who we ran into at Kohls!
May your day be filled with joy in the journey!

  1. Congratulations to you and you hubby! I've been married to my soul mate for 20 years and it seems that time has flown by!
It's so sweet, to see the bond and the love, between the two of you and your daughter. Megan is becoming a little lady!

  2. There is something about that first date anniversary that is special ~ our 28th yr is coming up and it still remains one of my favorite days of the year. Megan is growing so fast. She's funny roasting marshmallows .. gotta do what ya gotta do.
I think the trees are losing leaves earlier then usual around here. I love the change, but hate it when they are so bare and cold looking.

  3. This is a sweet post! I love that she is roasting marshmallows over the candle. Never thought of it, but sometimes I do get a little craving for roasted marshmallows. I have to remember that!!

  4. Mini marshmallow roasting on a candle. Love it!

  5. I’m glad Chuck asked you out on that date too ❤️

  6. What a sweet guy. You are both so lucky and deserving.

  7. So sweet!!!!
    And I know about creativity!
My Madison is like your creative!!!
    She never reads directions! LOL!
    Have a cozy day, Wendi. : )

  8. Congratulations! For my husband and I, it has been 35 years since our first date and he is faithful in remembering.
How cute, mini marshmallows over a candle.

    Enjoy your evening ~

  9. Congratulations to you and your hubby! It will be 34 years since my hubby and my first day the day after Thanksgiving. :) It only took us 6 months to find each other again after our first meeting 6 months prior to that. LOL! It's all in God's timing. :)

  10. So happy for you all. What a wonderful week.

  11. Such wonderful joyful memories of a lovely week Wendi! How sweet of your husband to remember your first date anniversary! We still remember ours too :) Such special memories. How kind of Chuck to patiently teach Megan how to do things instead of just doing it for her, such great parents you are :)

Thank you for visiting. I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment. I hope you enjoyed your visit and will return again!
