The first thing I did was wash everything that was setting out on the counters.

Everything is now nice and clean. It will be ready to come back into the kitchen or into the garage sale box. Very soon you won't be seeing those outdated blue counter tops in my pictures. Yeah!
The stove was pulled out and the microwave was taken down. All I can say about the stove is yuck! It will certainly be pulled out and cleaned more then once or twice a year.
After the stove and microwave was moved it was time to pull down the laminate that was behind the stove. We found the original kitchen walls.

Certainly vintage late 1950 early 1960's decor! I wouldn't want to see it everyday, but I admit it is fun seeing the way things were in the past.
I hope that we are able to get much accomplished over our long weekend. I look forward to sharing our progress next week. Have a great weekend!
Looks like fun! I hope you get a lot done!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! I can't wait to see it finished! It will look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished result. We found some scary wall paper behind our cabinets when we redid our kitchen. I am sure it was the height of fashion when it was put up. I, too, realized that the stove needs to be pulled out every so often. It's probably about time now. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see it all come together.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

Remodling is always such fun, isn't it? We are in processes of it. Looking forward to seeing the end results, which is worth all the hard work.
ReplyDeleteI got my mother addicted to reading blogs, and now, from time to time, she e-mails me about a great new blog she found that she wants me to read. That is how I found your blog! She sent me a link to your bacon muffins because my son LOVES bacon. :) I have really enjoyed my visit here, and look forward to checking in again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so curious to see how your kitchen remodel works. We have set aside a small amount of money to do some work on our house and we are praying about how and where to allocate the funds. I'm impressed that you seem to be doing much of the work yourself. That is our other dilema. I know we could save a ton if we could so some of the work, but managing "real life" and remodeling is quite a trick! :)
Your little girl is so precious. I have a heart for China adoptions and have two extremely dear friends who have welcomed daughters to their families.
Your recipe for homemade play dough brings back such sweet and special memories for me. I used to LOVE doing things like that with my boys. I can hardly wait to get to that fun stage again with my one year old!
Good luck in the kitchen! I'm sure you won't be sad to see the blue laminate go. I wish I could send my VERY pink floral (yes, in the ktichen!) wallpaper with it! :)
Oh....one more thing! My fridge broke recently and when we pulled it out from the wall....oh dear. Words fail me! :) Who knew dust bunnies could grow to be so BIG??
Oh boy that's a lot of work but it sounds like so much fun ;)
ReplyDeleteKitchen re-dos are so fun. I can't wait to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product! :)
