Preserving

I received a call from my mother-in-law asking if I wanted some sweet corn. Of course! I ended up with 4 dozen ears.

An afternoon was spent getting it ready for the freezer.

Thirteen quart bags in the freezer. I still need to put up some more, but this is a start.

Next I will be working on these.

Today I will be making some bread and butter pickles. Yum! So what are you putting up?

I hope you are taking time to enjoy the simple moments!

  1. Oh I would love directions on both of your projects please. We don't have corn right now but we do have cukes, and beans, and peas, and tomatoes. Man do we have tomatoes!!!

  2. I haven't done much yet--just shredded zucchini for the freezer. I did make strawberry jam back in June. My biggest undertaking will be applesauce and diced apples in a few weeks!

  3. I am amazed at the quantities of veggies that get passed along to you!
@Carrie: How do you preserve the diced apples and for what purpose?

  5. Hi, I have a very little garden and not so many vegetables. I have an apple tree, but that didn't produce great this year. I only had 3 apples. My zuchini plant is also very slow. I pick and eat it the same day.
We have had a very cold and wet Summer here in The Netherlands.
    Have a wonderful day.
