Hot Mulled Cider Mix

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp whole clover
1/4 tsp salt
dash nutmeg
3 cinnamon stick
(I doubled this recipe)

I packaged it in my new jars.

I used this to tamp down the mix. I then added the orange slices (finally I used them!) and cinnamon sticks. To finish it off I printed the instructions (add 1/2 of the jar, 1/2 of the orange slices and 3 cinnamon sticks to 2 quarts of apple cider) on cardstock and tied it on with jute.

  2. What a cute idea. We are having our annual country store at church in October. These would be great sellers. THanks for sharing!

Love this! I've been getting my Christmas idea together and this is going on the list. I can think of lots of people who would love this. I get canning jars often through Freecycle so that helps to keep the cost down. Thanks again.

  7. Wonderful idea! I will add it to my Christmas idea list. I'm planning to do a "homespun" Christmas this year with small gift baskets -- (1) homemade household items - laundry detergent, household cleaner, dishwashing detergent, etc., (2) homemade beauty supplies -- facial scrub, lotion, conditioner, etc., and (3) homemade foods -- like your apple cider mix!

Thanks for the idea and recipe!

Awwww and you used the orange slices!!!! I'll bet it's soooo good to have this with the orange slices gently floating on the top of your cup. Yummm...

    His,
    Mrs. U

  9. What size jars are those? I am doing a fall mountain wedding, and I was thinking of doing this in 4 oz jars for guest favors. Any tips? Thanks!
