Buttermilk Powder

I wanted to share this wonderful find with all of you. Unfortunately I can't take credit for finding this. Mom is the one who introduced me to this great product.

I love to bake and many times my recipe calls for buttermilk. I don't know about all of you, but buttermilk is not something I keep on hand. I have used the milk and lemon juice substitute, but I don't think it is as good as the real deal. Now thanks to this handy product I no longer have to fret when I need buttermilk!

  1. I've never tried this as I'm satisfied with the lemon juice substitute, but my Mom uses it! So glad you found something that you like and that works well for you!

  2. We LOVE this!!! We don't keep buttermilk around the house, so it's WONDERFUL having this!!! I've used it for everything that calls for buttermilk and they've always come out perfect- even salad dressing!!

  3. Wendi,

Good to know. I just made banana bread this morning and the recipe called for buttermilk! I'd like to give this a try.

The cake picture from Megan's birthday is a hoot!

    Glad you're back.

  4. Okay, I use this powder too, but I'm wondering how long to keep it around. I don't see an expiration date stamped anywhere, do you know anything about its shelf life?

  5. Lee, Thanks for stopping by. I went to www.sacofoods.com/cultured buttermilkblend.html. Their site says that it can be stored for "several years" if refrigerated.
